Main Points of Scientia’s Writing Policy!
- We are looking for stories that align with our edition’s theme or are timely for daily content. Consider why our readers, particularly in the Global South, would find your story relevant. We do not focus on developments that are only of interest to specialists, nor do we cover policy issues that affect only scientists or academia. Instead, we want stories that advance science, are relatable, and contribute to increasing scientific awareness among the general public.
- Scientia Pakistan always encourages writers to submit fresh and unpublished content. Before sending in your idea, make sure it is the kind of story we are after. Visit our website before writing pitches to us.
- In a few special cases, if a writer wishes to send us an article that has been previously published elsewhere, they must provide written permission from that publication. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your author account on Scientia’s website.
- We urge writers to pitch new and original ideas. In certain cases, if a writer intends to revisit an old topic, it is essential to present a new perspective that will engage our audience. Otherwise, we see no reason to accept submissions on that topic.
Scientia’s Editorial Process has the Following Phases:
- Send us a pitch of 150/ 200 words about your concerned topic at: saadeqa@scientiamag.org or editorial@scientiamag.org
- The pitch should cover all the main points and include your resources. Please specify whom you plan to talk to or interview for insights, such as the general public, experts, researchers, or scientists. Clarify whether you will rely solely on research papers or published articles. This will save both our time and yours, as we do not accept content that lacks original effort. We always encourage writers to put in their best work.
- Our editorial team will review your pitch and respond with either approval or rejection within three days. If you do not receive a reply within this timeframe, please send us a follow-up email.
Guidelines to Editorial Procedure!
- Once your idea/pitch is approved, our editorial team will provide the necessary guidelines. Below are some mandatory terms and conditions:
- Your article must be a minimum of 1,000 words. Plagiarism should be less than 10%, which applies only to quotes from research papers.
- The article should not be created with the assistance of AI tools.
- Please submit the article as an MS Word file, ensuring all references are included at the end for a fact-checking process.
- Data and statistics must be gathered from reputable sources; failing to provide proof of these sources may jeopardize our relationship with you.
- Include the relevant photographs, either AI generated or sourced from the internet, provided they are copyright-free. Be sure to include the original links to these images.
- Photographs should not be inserted within the text; instead, place them between two paragraphs with appropriate captions and source attributions.
- You may go through several rounds of editing with the editorial team, and we appreciate your patience during this process. However, failure to revise or edit according to the editor’s guidelines may lead to the termination of our relationship with you.
- Once your final draft is ready, our editor will let you know the publication date.
- In our bi-monthly editions, we first post the edition cover and cover story. Then, we publish one article each day, which means it may take some time for your article to be published. We appreciate your patience. After all the content for the edition is published, we will upload the entire edition in PDF format on our website.
