Jellyfish are exciting sea creatures that have mesmerized humans for years. Not just by their strikingly unique shapes but also by the vibrancy they bring to the seas and the oceans. One of their types includes the “Cosmic Jellyfish.”
This creature was recently spotted during the exploration of the Utu Seamount in the National Marine Sanctuary by the members of a US agency, NOAA. It was first identified as a Rhopalonematid trachymedusa but is also suspected to be a new species. It has various distinctive features including two rows of tentacles that face opposite directions. During the expedition, the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) took snapshots of beautiful Seaworld creatures that are rarely observed. One of those was the dazzling cosmic jellyfish. In a video released by the team, it can be seen hovering in the water and changing shapes as it moves away. It moves quickly in and out of the frame like an exotic being.
