This creature was recently spotted during the exploration of the Utu Seamount in the National Marine Sanctuary by the members of a US agency, NOAA. It was first identified as a Rhopalonematid trachymedusa but is also suspected to be a new species. It has various distinctive features including two rows of tentacles that face opposite directions. We have gathered some really cool pictures of the cosmic jellyfish as well as various other types of jellyfish for your eyes to feast on. Take a look below!
During the expedition, the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) took snapshots of beautiful Seaworld creatures that are rarely observed. One of those was the dazzling cosmic jellyfish. In a video released by the team, it can be seen hovering in the water and changing shapes as it moves away. It moves quickly in and out of the frame like an exotic being.
